Meet Gurpreet.

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing virtual therapy throughout California. I believe healing begins when we feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as you are, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out.

As a Punjabi-American therapist, I understand how culture, family values, and lived experiences can shape our identity, relationships, and sense of self. While I work with individuals and couples from all backgrounds, I have a special passion for supporting adult children of immigrants navigating identity, family expectations, relationships, and life transitions.

Hello!

My Story

My passion for this work began with witnessing the ways that family patterns, cultural expectations, and generational experiences can quietly shape our lives. I saw individuals and families carrying emotional burdens that had been passed down over generations, not because anyone intended to cause harm, but because these patterns often become normalized and remain unexamined.

Too often, I’ve heard beliefs like, “That’s just how they are,” or “People don’t change.” I believe growth is possible, but it doesn’t always mean changing who we are or trying to change others. Therapy can help us understand what is within our control, recognize what may not change, and make intentional choices about how we respond and what we want for our lives and relationships.

As a Punjabi-American therapist, I'm especially passionate about supporting adult children of immigrants, parents, and couples as they explore how their own experiences have shaped their relationships, beliefs, and patterns. My hope is to help clients develop greater awareness, not to place blame on previous generations, but to better understand themselves, break cycles that no longer serve them, and create healthier foundations for the generations that follow.

While this perspective is deeply meaningful to me, I welcome individuals and couples from all backgrounds. I believe every person has a unique story, and therapy offers an opportunity to better understand that story, heal from past experiences, and move toward a life that feels more authentic, connected, and fulfilling.

My Approach

Since 2021, I have provided therapy and clinical assessments for adolescents (13+), adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, life stressors, and major life transitions. I earned my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University California and began my career serving low-income and underserved communities, where I supported individuals facing significant barriers to accessing mental health care.

Those experiences shaped my perspective as a therapist and strengthened my commitment to providing compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care.

I believe that before meaningful change can occur, it's important to understand the experiences that have shaped who you are today. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I work to understand how past experiences, family dynamics, culture, and relationships influence your emotional well-being, sense of self, and the ways you navigate everyday life.

The foundation of effective therapy is the therapeutic relationship. Feeling safe, understood, and genuinely heard creates the space for meaningful change. I strive to build a collaborative relationship with each client where we can explore their experiences with compassion, curiosity, and without judgment.

As a certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) therapist, I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Therapy, mindfulness, and systems-oriented therapy. I tailor my approach to each client's unique needs, recognizing that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process. Together, we explore the experiences, emotions, thoughts, and relationship patterns that have shaped you while developing tools to support growth, self-understanding, and lasting change.
